As traditional sources of energy become more expensive, partly due to their scarcity and political instabilities in energy
supplying countries, people are becoming interested in using sustainable and renewable energy sources to power their homes
and gardens. In California, for example there are more houses built with pre-installed solar panels than ever before. Solar
panels are becoming easier to use and set up as joint venture deals become available with power companies and various rebates
are on offer for households that utilize renewable energy. One such appliance that is proving popular but might not be as
important as a solar panel, is the solar powered bird bath water fountain. This article will point out some of the features
and benefits of a solar bird bath fountain.
Pretty much any standard bird bath fountain can be a solar powered version. Many suppliers have a large range of designs that
can fit into any garden setting. The main advantage of a solar bird bath is that it is easier to install. There is no need to
connect it to the electricity mains as the solar panel located on the fountain will provide the power for a small pump that is
generally situated in the base of the fountain stand.
More elaborate fountains can have some form of solar bird bath heater that can be used to keep the water at a constant
temperature throughout the year. This means that birds will visit your bath during winter when water might be hard to come by.
Again this will be powered by the sun. Despite it being winter, any form of direct sunlight will power the fountain and heater.
As this is a small volume of water the energy needed will be small.
It makes sense to use as many solar powered products in the garden as it is the most likely place where a device will come into
direct contact with sunlight. Solar powered bird baths are slightly more expensive than standard bird baths but more than make up
for this on ease to install and saved energy bills.
Solar power can be applied to many other house and garden products. In recent years the cost of these appliances have become
very affordable and saved money on energy bills. Learn more about solar powered appliances at
